Retailers Recognize the Struggle of Returns This Holiday Season: Report

A recent report by ReturnPro (formerly goTRG) highlights that nearly two-thirds (63%) of retailers consider returns a severe or significant issue during the holiday season, a slight improvement from 73% the previous year. Over half of the surveyed retailers have experienced an increase in returns fraud over the past 12 months, with 52% anticipating further escalation during the holidays. Despite these challenges, only about 47% of retailers are currently utilizing AI or machine learning to mitigate return rates and enhance the returns process. Additionally, 56% of retailers report higher inventory levels compared to last year, which, while potentially boosting sales, also complicates returns management.
