The holiday season brings not just a surge in sales but also a significant increase in returns. According to a joint report by the National Retail Federation and Appriss, retailers are bracing for approximately $148 billion in merchandise returns following the holidays. This follows a year where customers returned goods worth about $743 billion, representing 14.5% of total retail sales in 2023. The increasing volume of returns highlights a growing challenge in the retail industry.
